Where Have All The Heroes Gone?

No surprise; I'm writing this after waking up to the news that the glorious Gloria Steinem has died at age 92. She had it all. As one report put it: She came to NY to be a writer and became a movement. She had talent, she had values, she fought for equality - and she did it in the most fantastic mini skirts and hip hugging jeans.

Who do these young people have? An influencer paid by the left or right (or both, who knows?) to slip in politics with the latest video about non-smear eyeliner, which in fact is very good. I only have to put on eye make once a week. But as good as it is, eyeliner isn't a value. Under eye concealer, well, maybe that's a value.

To me Gloria epitomized the best of feminism - it wasn't easy to sound rational and sell equality while you were being demeaned and belittled - but she did it with charm and humor softening her wonderful smarts.
