Are Your Children Listening?

With email, texts and cell phones, it can be difficult to figure out whether your children are paying attention. Relax, I’ve broken the code.
We will start from the top, REALLY LISTENING, to the bottom, THEIR PHONE IS ON THE COUNTER
Beginning with the best reaction:
Immediate response with a non-cliché phrase.
Immediate response with 1 or more words that had to be typed; i.e. I'm late, sorry, cancer sucks, or I'm in the Azores.
Next, an acceptable reaction:
Immediate response but only with “NICE!”
The 3 answers above show that you have registered on their consciousness, and perhaps their interest.
Next, sliding down the communication literacy scale:
Emoji or Gif (dancing pig, clapping hands) that had to be found to suit the occasion.
This response shows a small bit of enthusiasm and a desire to be amusing.
Continuing the slide:
Emoji thumbs up
This response indicates they are finished with you, but they don’t want to offend (at least they have good manners). You may as well hang up now.
Finally:
Silence
This is also a response – indifference. Time for you to go to the bathroom, get some tea, amuse yourself, make friends your own age, or change your will.
Still want to communicate???? Please write a review for Not The Trip We Planned. Look up some superlatives, add words like 'clever', 'heartwarming', 'the authors must be wonderful people', you know the sort of thing. Post it on Amazon. Even if you hate Jeff , he's still a better billionaire than Elon. Or post on Goodreads, or BOTH. https://www.amazon.com/review/create-review/?ie=UTF8&channel=glance-detail&asin=B0DQYCKFFS
