Give Yourself A Treat

I had planned to continue the theme, "It's Not That Complicated" (and thank you for all the positive emails), but have decided to momentarily digress... so, this morning I’m going to speak to a dilemma many of us share. As we age, consuming too many sweets can be a problem. On the other hand, we need treats to keep us happy. What to choose? Events of the past week caused me to revisit this problem. I will try to treat it objectively, weighing the pros and cons to decide my course of action. I need a treat. Which one? Here we go:
A. Do I get a half dozen donuts, either the glazed cruller type or raspberry jelly with white icing? Or some of each…
OR
B. Do I rewatch the Congressional Hearing where Tillis, Kennedy, and Kamlager-Dove remind Kristi Gnome that she is a self-promoting, cruel, ignorant, lying,… (You can add your own adjectives here. I certainly don’t want to influence you). It was very satisfying and I giggled more than when I eat donuts.
........
If I choose A., the initial bite of the donut, esp. if I chomp into the jelly, is amazing. The rest of the donut is also terrific but… that first sugar hit, yum. And with a good cuppa Earl Grey tea. Hard to beat. It feels like we still have a chance to turn around before we self-destruct.
BUT
If I choose B., my A1C is temporarily protected, I can tell myself that every once in a while, honor and justice peek their withering little heads above ground to whisper, “Here I am”, and I will listen again to Ms. K-Dove ask Kristi if she had sex with the odious Corey. Ugh!. That question was hard to trump, but Mr. Kennedy topped it by leading her into the trap of implicating DJT in her ad spending spree. You see what I mean - this stuff is hard to put down. It's more addictive than potato chips, but it doesn't reassure me that the world is in a good place.
AND LET'S FACTOR IN
There are more donuts in the bag for tomorrow.
BUT there is also Markwayne Mullin in the bag for tomorrow.
Tomorrow feels dangerous, whatever I choose.
Don’t forget to find a Rally on 3/28 somewhere, anywhere. We now live in a world where size does matter. The numbers count, the optics are essential. People (who don’t read this blog) need to know they are not alone while they worry about this country.

Like Angel, I would go for dark chocolate straight up--or brownies with semi-sweet chips included or perhaps just some TollHouse Cookies? If protein is needed (as this seems like a long-haul slot, the treat of choice for me would be the Cheese Flakie pastries from the old-school Entenmens' shops in the Loop in Chicago.
I would also add that watching the evil get their "just desserts" actually goes better with a bite of chocolate. Thank you for this!! And for "Not the Trip We Planned"--I laughed out loud.
