Good Riddance

With the perspective of age, I realized that, yes, there are things I miss—sharp eyesight, acute hearing. But I mitigate the sense of loss by finding balancing items for Riddance.
I invite you to nominate some of your favorites in the comments below so we can take them up in future posts. My nomination for the month of August is The Bathing Cap. Or perhaps, if you were hip and coastal, it was a Swim Cap.
I now find hilarious the kind of Bathing Cap that was featured in my youth and guaranteed to crease your forehead, give you a headache, and never actually keep your hair dry. I can remember studying them in magazine ads and when modeled by the more stylish mothers and sometimes matching daughters at the public “plunge”.
I suppose in advanced age the chin strap on certain models might lift my chin and neck profile but for now I am glad that we’ve realized that these were simply torture devices and definitely sexist.
Meanwhile, Chickie and Maddy endorse swimming in whatever you please and letting your hair and imagination flow freely. Also feel free to comment below in detail on fashion habits you are delighted to give up as we get on.
Maybe even invite your friends to Chickie’s Blog where they could share their favorite nomination for Good Riddance fashion habits https://www.chickiesblog.com/
Please take a moment and write a review for Not The Trip We Planned on Amazon and Goodreads. Thanks

Love the bathing cap descriptions. My ears would end up smashed and hurting after the cap was pulled off.
We had matching caps when we did synchronized swimming performances.
Most young people have rotten rid of slips but I still wear them and think they’re important.
