Mother's Day

To everyone, I mean everyone (not just menopause-able beings) who has cared for, mentored, protected, guided, nourished, fought for, or loved a smaller, needier sentient being - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.

Being a mother is an attitude and behavior, so from all of us who have ever received care and love from a mother, thank you.

My mother bought this pink straw (trimmed with black velvet) hat in New York City in 1946. It was an angry splurge after she had argued with my father. The hat also had a lovely, delicate, black veil that one of the cats demolished years ago.
