Personal Flotation Devices

I’ve never been “a water person”.  I can swim. I do shower regularly. And I definitely enjoy a hot tub.

But I definitely need a PersonalMediaFlotationDevice (PMFD) these days—of the metaphorical kind. I am drowning in the news.  Too much, too grim, and everywhere, all the time.

I am all for the Free Press.  But I am not willing to drown in the flood of “facts”, opinions, stream of photos, and videos—and never knowing whether the images are confirmed facts or the inventions of the swamp of AI that is saturating what used to be friendly internet feeds.

So, I believe it is time for us to imagineer a Personal Media Flotation Device for keeping us breathing and afloat above the grim effluvia of the airwaves.  Having lived this long we do not deserve to be submerged in denial or excess of current events.

Below would seem to be minimal requirements—your additions and revisions are invited in the Comments below.

  • Easy to put on, fasten, and remove as needed.

  • Includes Fact Checker function, Mute, and Delete buttons.

  • Can toggle between news sources.

  • Pockets for water and wine storage.

  • Reflective fabric for late night news addicts.

Design proposals are also invited in the comments below.

Maddy and Chickie will model if requested. But rafting is not a Trip they are planning.

Feel free to encourage friends and relations who are news-stressed or news-obsessed to try this https://bookshop.org/p/books/not-the-trip-we-planned-carol-g-kerr/0c4483c627daf0ba

Strapped headlamp, handy on dark days and in dark waters...

Additional pocket for binoculars, to spot land in horizon, and flying feathered friends...

Attached carabiner clips, for hooking up or just warming up with birds of same feather...
